Attention of Government drawn to reports in press of big opium seizure at Shanghai and resulting prosecution. Reports state 1189 of documents also seized revealing immense organisation for the import of Turkish opium. Government consider it very important that these documente which will probably contain information of great value in connection with suppression of illicit traffic, especially in Far East, should be thoroughly examined and instructions are being sent to British Consul to get into touch with municipal authorities with a view to utmost possible use being made of the documents end to report fully. Me think it very probable that information of value to Hong Kong Government will be forthcoming and suggest the appropriale officials at Hong Kong getting into touch with the British Consul at Shanghai so as to be able to take advantage of and act on, such information as soon as possible.
